Hey Alexa, play “Without Me” by Eminem.
Guess who’s back?
Back again.
Dr. Tanaka’s back.
Tell a friend.

Yes, my dear readers, after disappearing from these internet streets for what may or may not have felt like forty days and forty nights, the prodigal blogger has finally returned.
Before anyone asks where I have been, let me begin by saying that I did not abandon you. I simply entered an extended period of… creative hibernation.

That sounds much better than saying life became busy, I became distracted, and my poor blog was left sitting quietly in a forgotten corner of the internet, gathering digital dust and wondering what it had done wrong.
But I am back now.
And before you say it, yes, I know. It has been a while. A long while. Long enough for life to happen, plans to change, dreams to evolve and, apparently, for me to become an entirely new woman.
So, What Happened While I Was Away?
Well, the last time I was actively writing here, I was still singing:
Alexa, play “Single Ladies” by Beyoncé.
But now?
Alexa, play “At Last” by Etta James.
Your girl got married!
Yes, somewhere between writing about women’s health, navigating adulthood and pretending to have everything under control, somebody decided that he wanted to listen to my medical explanations, random theories and dramatic storytelling for the rest of his life.
A brave man.

So, I am no longer just Dr. Tanaka. I am now a wife, a partner and one half of a household in which “What should we eat?” has somehow become one of the most difficult questions asked each day.
Marriage is not the only thing that changed, though.
During my time away, I lived. I learned. I travelled. I grew professionally. I completed new chapters, began even bigger ones and collected enough experiences, lessons and unsolicited opinions to keep this blog busy for a very long time.
Life stretched me in ways I did not expect. Some seasons were beautiful. Others were difficult. A few were the kind that build character when you distinctly remember never asking for any more character.
But through it all, I changed.
And as I changed, I realised that this little corner of the internet needed to change with me.
Same Blogger, Brand-New Wardrobe
If you have looked around the website already, you may have noticed that she has had some work done.
Nothing too invasive, of course. We believe in subtle enhancements around here.

The blog has been completely revamped, with a fresh design, a new colour theme and an identity that feels much more like the woman I have become. It is warmer, bolder, more mature and a little more refined; but still playful enough to remind you that I will absolutely use any lyrics that come to explain a major life update.
Think of it as the digital version of clearing out your wardrobe, changing your hairstyle and suddenly walking differently because your outfit is giving exactly what it was supposed to give.
The blog has been rebranded because I have been rebranded too.
I am still the same Dr. Tanaka who believes that medicine should make sense to ordinary people. I still want to have honest conversations about our bodies, our health and the questions people are sometimes too embarrassed to ask aloud.
That part of me has not changed.
But I am no longer only one thing, and I do not want this blog to be only one thing either.
We Are Expanding the Consultation
Previously, this blog lived predominantly in the world of health. We discussed diseases, symptoms, women’s health, mental health, sexual health and all the strange things the human body occasionally decides to do without first consulting us.
Health will always remain at the heart of this platform. After all, I am still a doctor, and I still believe that good health information should be clear, accessible and served without a frightening side of medical jargon.

But life is much bigger than what happens inside a consultation room.
So, this new chapter is making room for more.
We are talking about travel; the beautiful places, the chaotic journeys, the cultural experiences and the trips that look glamorous in photographs but conveniently leave out the delayed flights, heavy suitcases and frantic searches for boarding gates.
We are talking about lifestyle: marriage, personal growth, food, home, beauty, wellness and the everyday experiences that shape who we are.
We are also introducing think pieces;because anyone who knows me knows that I have thoughts.
Many thoughts.
Thoughts about healthcare, womanhood, relationships, society, culture, business, faith and the wonderfully complicated experience of being human. Some will be light-hearted. Some will challenge us. Some may inspire debate. Others may have you staring at your screen and whispering, “You know what? She actually has a point.”
And, naturally, we will continue talking about health, because the human body has not stopped being confusing simply because I got married and redesigned a website.
Bigger, Better and Slightly More Opinionated
So, no, this is no longer just a medical blog in the traditional sense.
It is still grounded in medicine, education and my desire to make complicated subjects easier to understand. But now it also reflects the full person behind the stethoscope: the doctor, the wife, the traveller, the entrepreneur, the lifelong learner, the overthinker and the woman who has lived enough life to return with a few stories to tell.
I suppose you could say I am bigger and better, baby.
Not physically bigger, please. Let us not start unnecessary rumours.
I mean bigger in vision. Bigger in purpose. Bigger in the kinds of conversations I want us to have. Better in design, richer in perspective and far more confident about allowing all the different parts of myself to exist in one place.

Because perhaps that is what growth really is, not becoming someone completely different, but finally making room for every version of who you already are.
Welcome Back—To All of Us
To everyone who read my old articles, shared them, commented on them or quietly wondered whether I had retired from blogging without submitting an official notice: thank you for still being here.
To those discovering this platform for the first time: welcome. You have arrived just in time for the relaunch, so technically, you did not miss anything. Please do not ask the older readers for evidence to the contrary.

This new season will be informative, honest, reflective and, when necessary, slightly unserious.
We will learn together. We will laugh together. We may occasionally disagree, but we will always leave the conversation knowing a little more than we did when we arrived.
The website has changed.
The woman behind it has changed.
The vision has grown.
But the heart of this space remains the same: to make knowledge feel human, to discuss the things that matter and to create a place where curiosity is always welcome.
The prodigal blogger has returned.
She is married.
She is rebranded.
She has more categories.
She has more stories.
And, perhaps most importantly, she finally remembered her website password.
We are no longer Just a Medical Blog by Dr. Tanaka, welcome to The Tanaka Edit, baby!

And before I go, a very special shout-out to my husband and the brilliant web developer he chose, because CLOCK IT! This rebrand ate and left absolutely no crumbs! The prodigal blogger is officially back like a bra strap!

Alexa, turn the volume up.
